Just weeks after winning gold for Ireland at the World U23 Championships, Ballymote’s Brian Colsh has earned another senior selection for his country at September’s World Rowing Championships in Serbia.
Colsh, who’s 21, will compete in the Men’s Quad alongside Kozan Pazzaia (with whom he won U23 gold in the double sculls in Bulgaria), Andrew Sheehan (UCC) and Ronan Byrne (Shandon Boat Club).
It’s Colsh’s second time to earn Irish selection for the senior Worlds.
12 months agao, he enjoyed a top-15 finish in the single sculls event in the Czech Republic.
The senior World Championships take place in Belgrade from September 3rd to 10th.
Ireland is sending its largest ever team with 26 rowers selected.
These championships also act as the first opportunity for the Irish rowers to secure Olympic qualification spots for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
After this event, the last chance for Paris 2024 qualification will be next May at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne.
