Garda Commissioner Drew Harris is being urged to reconsider building a new Garda station in Sligo town.
In 2018, a site was purchased in Caltragh with a view towards building a new station, however those plans were shelved indefinitely, after a decision was made to upgrade the existing building on Pearse road instead.
However it’s now thought that following confirmation that the Sligo/Leitrim Garda Division is not to be amalgamated with Donegal, there should be a renewed focus on providing a new building for Gardai in Sligo.
