Ireland relay team eighth in world final

Donegal’s Kelly McGrory and the Ireland team finished eighth out of nine teams in Sunday night’s final of the 4 x 400 metres relay as the World Athletics Championships drew to a close.

The race was the final track event of these championships.

McGory and team-mates Sophie Becker, Róisin Harrison and Sharlene Mawdsley ran courageously but were never in contention at the business end of the race.

The final was won in dramatic fashion by the Netherlands taking victory on the finish line ahead of Jamaica with Great Britain and NI third.
