Sligo University Hospital was one of the most overcrowded hospitals in Ireland in August, according to the INMO.
The INMO has today published figures which show this has been the worst August for hospital overcrowding since the INMO began counting trolleys, with over 9,720 patients admitted to hospital without a bed.
737 people waited for a bed at Sligo University Hospital over the course of August, making it the fourth most overcrowded hospital in the country.
It’s a slight increase on last year’s figure of 720.
Letterkenny University Hospital came in fifth with 539 awaiting admission over the course of the month.
INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha is warning that this winter is going to continue the pattern of difficult and dangerous times in hospitals.
