Lack of investment has lead to speed limit change



The government is being accused of having left themselves with no choice other than to reduce speed limits due to a continued lack of investment in roads infrastructure.

Major changes to speed limits are on the way for the country’s roads.

They’re set to reduce on national secondary roads from 100km per hour to 80.

Other changes include from 80 km/h to 60 km/h on rural and local roads and it’ll reduce to 30 km/h in residential areas, towns, and cities.

Speaking to Ocean FM News Councillor Seán McDermott, who holds the position of Chairperson of the Planning Economic Development & Infrastructure SPC says there would be no need to reduce limits if we had better roads.
