Aodh Ruadh Ballyshannon beat Glenfin in round 4 of the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure senior football championship on Saturday evening by 1-8 to 0-5 to secure their place in the quarter-finals for 2023.
The match was played at the newly-refurbished Fr Tierney Park in Ballyshannon, which has just undergone a major facelift over the last 18 months.
The top four teams after four rounds of round robin matches qualified for quater-finals of the senior championship – with the next eight clubs contesting preliminary quarter-finals.
Kilcar were under pressure for much of the hour against an in-form MacCumhaills side before securing a share of the spoils on a final scoreline of 0-14 each.
County champions Naomh Conaill also ensured a top-four finish despite conceding two goals to Michael Murphy and Glenswilly.
The holders eventually ran out 0-15 to 2-5 winners – and they’ll be joined in the quarters by last year’s beaten finalists St Eunan’s who overwhelmed St Michael’s in Dunfanaghy by 1-11 to 0-3.
In Mountcharles, St Naul’s goalkeeper Gavin Mulreaney scored 1-1 and saved a penalty to held Naul’s beat Killybegs by 1-12 to 0-14.
However, despite the win, Naul’s still find themselves in the relegation play-offs, as do the Fishermen.
Four Masters will contest the prelim quarter-finals despite losing to Cloughaneely by two points in Falcarragh.
