Ireland has been allocated an additional European Parliament seat.
This means there will be 14 MEPs representing the country following the 2024 EU Parliament election.
It is not yet known which constituency will be given allocated the seat.
The move comes as MEPs have approved the European Council’s decision increasing the number of seats in the European Parliament for the next legislative term from 705 to 720.
Ireland is one of nine countries to be allocated an additional seat alongside Austria, Denmark, Belgium, Poland, Finland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Latvia.
France, Spain and The Netherlands, meanwhile have been allocated two additional seats.
