Ballinaglera beaten after extra-time, Dromahair win to stay senior

Ballinaglera’s run in this year’s Leitrim Smith Monumentals intermediate football championship came to an end on Saturday evening in Carrick-on-Shannon, as they lost out to Padraig McGourty’s Annaduff after extra-time on a final scoreline of 2-12 to 0-14.

The sides finished level at 1-9 to 0-12 after sixty minutes but Annaduff grabbed the initiative in the extra period, restricting their opponents to just two points during extra-time.

Saturday’s second quarter-final between Kiltubrid and Carrigallen was postponed until a later date, as a mark of respect to Kiltubrid stalwart Michael James McKiernan, who passed away this weekend.

In the Connacht Gold senior championship semi-finals, Dromahair secured senior championship status for next year with a 1-8 to 0-16 victory over Aughnasheelin in their relegation play-off.

Aughnasheelin, last year’s intermediate champions, have one final chance to stay senior as they now face Gortletteragh in the relegation play-off final.

Gortletteragh lost out to Aughawillan on Saturday on a final scoreline of 1-20 to 0-8.
