The Cathaoirleach of the Local Authority in Sligo says every effort is being made to address capacity issues with local link buses traveling from Ballymore to Sligo.
There has been an unprecedented demand for the service this morning with the reopening of the ATU in Sligo this week.
Councillor Gerard Mullaney says he has received reports that as many as 11 students looking to travel to the ATU in Sligo were unable to gain access to the buses in Ballymote this morning.
It’s understood that buses traveling through the town from locations such as Ballaghaderreen, Castlerea and Tubbercurry are already full by the time they arrive in Ballymote.
The Fine Gael elected representative says it’s hoped that an additional bus will be used to address the additional demand. However as of yet no exact date can be provided in relation to when this will happen.
