House prices continue to rise in the North West

There is further evidence today that house prices are increasing in the North West.

A lack of supply has seen the price of the average three-bed semi in parts of the region rise by 5% in the past quarter, and 18% over the past year.

Across the county of Sligo this quarter, the average time taken to sell has increased by one week to an average of five weeks, according to the REA Average House Price Index study, which was published today.

In Sligo town, prices rose 4% to €260,000 this quarter, while prices in Tubbercurry rose 6.3% to €170,000.

Meanwhile the price of the average second-hand three-bed semi in County Leitrim has increased to €178,500, up 2% from €175,000 in the last three months.

Prices are also rising in Donegal.

Roger McCarrick, REA McCarrick & Sons, says prices are now reflecting the Celtic Tiger era.
