Animals in Need Donegal have reported that seven kittens had been dumped in a box at Murvagh Beach in south Donegal.
The animal charity received a call that an adult cat had been found in poor condition in the same area on Thursday afternoon.
In a post on social media, Animals in Need Donegal say the cat was the mother of the four kittens who had died.
Animals in Need Donegal say the adult cat is safe and has received special food in small meals regularly.
