A North Leitrim husband and wife have been announced as the 2024 recipients of Leitrim Guardian Committee’s Person of the Year award.
Breege and Michael Mulvihill, from Glenfarne were nominated in recognition of their lifetime of service to their community.
In 1999, Michael and Breege, lost their son Seamus through leukaemia.
Seamus was treated in St James’s Hospital in Dublin
Michael and Breege have raised over €150,000 for the Leukaemia Trust.
The family have also raised money for The Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust.
Their fundraising efforts have included, Christmas card sale, car wash, sponsored walks, Christmas Day swims, head shaving, leg waxing, church gate collections and tractor parades.
