Eoghan Rua clinch Sligo intermediate title

Eoghan Rua gaelic footballers held off a late goal flurry from Drumcliffe/Rosses Point to deservedly clinch the Sligo LGFA Connacht Gold intermediate football title at Connolly Park in Collooney on Sunday, on a final scoreline of 3-13 to 3-10.

Three early first-half goals laid the platform for this win as Eoghan Rua galloped into a nine-point lead early on.

They led by 3-6 to 0-6 at the interval – and while Rianne Smith’s early second-half goal gave Drumcliffe/Rosses Point hope, their opponents work rate all over the pitch saw them keep their opponents at arms length.

Two late DRP goals in added time set up a nervy couple of moments near the end but Eoghan held on to win.
