2024 Championship draws being made this Saturday

The draws for the 2024 provincial football championships will be made this Saturday afternoon (Oct 21st) on RTÉ Radio 1.

There will be slightly different formats to some of the draws.

CONNACHT
Sligo and Leitrim won’t be involved in overseas trips in the Connacht football championship next year as it’s Mayo’s turn to travel to New York in 2024, while Connacht champions Galway will make the journey to McGovern Park in Ruislip to play London.

ULSTER
The four counties in Ulster who’ve contested the preliminary round game in the Ulster football championship over the past two seasons – Armagh, Antrim, Fermanagh and Tyrone – will be exempt from this part of the draw on Saturday.

The quartet get byes into the quarter-finals.

Jim McGuinness’s Donegal will be one of five teams in pot 1 for the prelim draw on Saturday – Cavan, Mickey Harte’s Derry, Down and Monaghan are the others who could also potentially find themselves in the prelim game.

LEINSTER
The Leinster Senior Football Championship will see the four 2023 semi-finalists – Dublin, Kildare, Louth and Offaly – seeded and go directly to the quarter-final stages.

MUNSTER
The 2023 Munster SFC finalists, Kerry and Clare, will be seeded for the 2024 competition and go directly to the semi-final stages.

A bowl including Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford will be drawn to provide two quarter-final pairings. There will be an open draw for the semi-finals, which will be Kerry, Clare and the two quarter-final winners.

As the Leinster and Munster senior hurling championships will again be run on a round-robin basis, draws will only be required for the provincial football competitions.

The football draws will also be streamed on the RTÉ website.
