Sligo GAA has confirmed that recently-retired Mayo intercounty footballer Kevin McLoughlin has been added to Tony McEntee’s coaching ticket for the 2024 season.
The 34-year-old Knockmore clubman called time on a 15-year senior intercounty career in August.
The half forward was a key member of the Mayo sides which reached All-Ireland SFC finals in 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2021 – and played 168 times for his native county, placing him third on the all-time Mayo appearance list behind Andy Moran and Aidan O’Shea.
McLoughlin has coached school teams at Rice College in Westport, where he works as a teacher.
He comes into the Sligo set-up as Colm McFadden moves on to join his brother-in-law Jim McGuinness with the Donegal senior footballers for 2024.
Sligo will play Leitrim next April in the opening round of the 2024 Connacht football championship, following Saturday’s provincial draw.
The Yeats County will be operating from Division 3 of the national league following last season’s Division 4 league title success.
