Sligo Rovers suffered a 1-0 loss to St Patrick’s Athletic in Monday night’s re-arranged SSE Airtricity League Premier Division game at Inchicore.
Kian Leavy’s first-half goal gave Pat’s the three points and ensures European football for the Dublin club next season.
With two league games to go, Rovers still have work to do to ensure their Premier Division survival.
Rovers are trying to stay above Cork City and avoid the relegation play-off spot at the end of the regulation 36 games.
Bottom-of-the-table UCD are already relegated.
On the plus side, manager John Russell said he saw plenty of improvement in the team’s performance, when he spoke after the game to LOITV.
“The difference between tonight and Friday was night and day.”
