TFI announce new route and changes to others for Sligo and Leitrim



TFI Local Link have announced three significant changes to bus routes in Sligo and Leitrim.

The changes will see a significant increase in services across both counties.

The region is set to receive three more bus routes, one new and two enhanced, coming into effect from Monday October 30th.

The new 563 route will run return services from Sligo to St Angela’s and on to Dromahair six times daily Monday to Sunday.

Route 566 will also be ammended to run from Sligo to Dromahair via Ballintogher and Ballygawley. This enhanced service will also perate four daily return services between Sligo and Drumkeeran Monday to Sunday, two of which will extend to Dowra, with additional services on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

The existing once-a-day Monday to Friday service through Ballintogher and Ballygawley on Bus Éireann route 462 will be withdrawn, with passengers able to avail of the enhanced route 566 instead.

The third change is on Route 981 from Coolaney to Sligo and St Angela’s. The route will be enhanced from four daily return services Monday to Sunday, to ten Monday to Saturday, and nine daily on Sundays.

This means that another Bus Éireann route, the 475 between Coolaney and Sligo, will be withdrawn, as a number of new daily services on route 981 are will become available.

These changes now mean that there will be ten to twelve daily serivces between Dromahair and Sligo Monday to Sunday, and up to fifteen daily return services between Sligo and St Angela’s.

Additionally, all three routes will provide peak-time and evening services for commuters, improved connectivity to Sligo Town and to regional bus and rail services.
