Ulster GAA to consider report on Rory Gallagher allegations

Ulster GAA says it will consider the findings of a report into allegations of domestic abuse made by the estranged wife of former Derry senior football manager Rory Gallagher.

The independent review, chaired by Gareth McGibbon of McGibbon Consultancy and Safeguarding Services, was commissioned in July to examine Ulster GAA’s response to adult safeguarding practice when concerns are raised relating to domestic violence and abuse.

Gallagher stepped down as Derry manager in May after the allegations against him were made by Nicola Gallagher in a social media post.

She claimed she suffered abuse over a 24-year period.

After the claims were published, Mr Gallagher said the allegations had been “investigated and dealt with by the relevant authorities”.

In a statement published on Tuesday, Ulster GAA said it welcomed the publication of the McGibbon Report and would take time to consider its findings and implement the recommendations contained within it.

The full content of the independent report hasn’t yet been made public.
