Increase in number of cars purchased in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal



Counties Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal each saw an increase in the number of new cars purchased in the first ten months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.

 

The Society of the Irish Motor Industry has today released their official 232 new vehicle registrations statistics.

 

A total of 2,857 cars were purchased in county Donegal in the months of January to October, 303 of which were electric.

 

Leitrim also saw an increase totaling 496 new cars purchased in the first nine months of 2023, 58 of which were electric.

 

Similar to its fellow north west counties, Sligo saw an increase with 1,292 total new cars purchased in the first nine months compared to 1,184 in 2022.

 

Sligo also saw 27 more electric cars purchased in the first ten months of 2023, with 181 purchased.

 

In total, new car registrations for the first nine months of the year nationally were up 15.6% to 120,495 when compared to October 2022.

 

22,280 new electric vehicles were registered nationally for the first ten months of 2023.
