Teen transferred to Beaumont following serious overnight assault in Sligo



A teenager who was seriously injured in an overnight assault in Sligo has been transferred to Beaumont Hospital for further treatment.

 

Gardai have made an appeal for information.

 

Gardaí are investigating the serious assault on the teenage boy that happened at around 7:10pm at the Apple Green service station on the Mailcoach road.

 

The teen was taken to Sligo University Hospital with serious injuries but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he is currently continuing to receive treatment.

 

The scene remains preserved for a technical examination this morning and an investigation is continuing at Sligo Garda station.

 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

 

Anyone with video footage of this incident are being asked to make it available to Gardaí, as are any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the Mailcoach road between 6:45pm and 7:15pm.
