Sligo and Leitrim were two of only three counties in Ireland which recorded an overall rise in the number of people on the Live Register last month.
It’s one of the key findings in the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.
There were 2,041 people on the live register in Sligo in October, representing a 2.2% increase when compared to the same period last year.
A 2.2% rise was also recorded in Leitrim, with 1,697 people on the Live Register last month.
In Donegal the figure was 9,030, however this represents a fall of 4%.
