Mona McSharry on Ireland team for 2024 World Championships

Sligo’s Mona McSharry will be part of a 15-strong team for the 2024 World Aquatic Championships in Doha, Qatar.

The team will be made up of 12 swimmers and three divers – and will be the penultimate event for Irish competitor to secure Olympic qualification for Paris.

McSharry is already assured of a place in France – after securing Olympic qualification at this year’s World Championships in Japan, where she missed out on a medal in the 100m breaststroke final by .13 seconds.

The 2024 World Championships will take place in Doha from February 2nd-18th.

McSharry’s college commitments in the States mean she has opted to skip next month’s European Shortcourse (25m) Championships in Romania.

A 17-strong Ireland team was also named for Bucharest on Wednesday – it will be led by European record holder Daniel Wiffen.
