There will be no free Christmas Parking in Sligo this year.
The initiative is set to be rolled out in other local authority car parks across the country as a good will gesture to shoppers in the run up to the festive season.
However, it’s understood that a decision has been made not to implement it in Sligo.
It had been in place in the town in 2022, but it caused major problems.
But local Sinn Fein Cllr Arthur Gibbons says businesses are struggling and feels that it should go ahead:
