Donegal’s Mark McHugh and Sligo’s Gerry McGowan have both stepped away from their roles in the Roscommon senior football management team for the 2024 season.
The Roscommon Herald reports that Kilcar native McHugh, who was one of Davy Burke’s first recruits when he took over the manager’s job last year, won’t be involved in the New Year because of the travel commitments involved.
Tourlestrane’s Gerry McGowan had also been part of the Rossies coaching ticket – but he stepped away at conclusion of Roscommon’s championship campaign this year – and has since been replaced by Lar Wall.
Roscommon reached the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-finals last season – before losing to Cork by a point.
The county collected its first football All-Star in 22 years last Friday when Boyle’s Enda Smith was named on the 2023 selection at left half-forward.
