Sligo Rovers connections feature in New Zealand’s 1-1 draw with Ireland

Sligo Rovers defender Nando Pinjaker (pictured) played for New Zealand in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland in what was a friendly international at the Aviva Stadium.

In what was likely to be Stephen Kenny’s final game as Ireland manager, Adam Idah gave the home side a first-half lead following a defensive error by Pijnaker.

Matt Garbett levelled the game for the Kiwis in the second half.

Former Sligo Rovers striker Max Mata (now with Shrewsbury Town) was also a second-half substitute.

Pinjaker is contracted with Rovers for the 2024 season.
