Strand Celtic’s run in this season’s FAI Junior Cup came to an end on Sunday in Strandhill when they were beaten 3-0 by Peake Villa of Tipperary in round 4.
Strand were hoping emulate their achievement of last season by reaching the last 32 of junior soccer’s premier national cup competition – but on the day their Tipp opponents proved too strong.
The defeat ends Sligo-Leitrim interest in the competition for this season.
Meanwhile, in the Connacht Junior Cup, Sunday was a good day for local clubs with Arrow Harps, Carbury and MCR all recording victories.
