Irish grass fed beef is to be awarded special protected status.

Agriculture Minister and Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue will tell cabinet today that the European Commission will issue Protected Geographical Indication to grass fed beef from Ireland and Northern Ireland next week.

According to the Examiner Achill Sea Salt will be given protected designation of origin certification, which confirms an item is produced, processed and developed in a specific area.
