No major injuries reported following Leitrim Village tornado



No major injuries have been reported after a tornado ripped through Leitrim Village on Sunday afternoon.

 

Serious damage has been caused to properties, cars, trees and walls- with over 900 homes and premises without power.

 

Gardaí and Emergency Services attended and continue to attend the scene as the area comes to terms with what happened.

 

Diversions are in place at Drumgorman Lake (Drumshanbo-side), The Fingerboard (Carrick-on-Shannon-side) and Battlebridge (Arigna-side).

 

Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Paddy Farrell says the area has never seen the likes of this event:
