Glenview Stars clinched the inaugural Sligo Bay Lobsters Women’s Amateur League in Sligo-Leitrim when they beat Real Tubber 1-0.
Irish international Laura McGuinn scored the all-important goal which gave Stars the three points and an unassailable lead at the top of the table.
The team, based at Seamie O’Boyle Park in Sligo town, have gone through the season unbeaten to date – and Saturday’s win ensured they can’t be denied top spot, with one more league game still to play.
Team manager Gino O’Boyle spoke to Austin O’Callaghan after Saturday’s win.
The inaugural women’s league saw 12 teams compete with the teams playing each other just once (11 games).
