A local Councillor says the community in Ballygawley has been left shocked by the tragic of events of last night’s fatal road traffic collision which took place on the Ballygawley to Ballintogher road last night.
Cllr Thomas Walsh visited the scene of the fatal collision where a woman in her 50’s died after her car was involved in a two car collision on the R 209.
The driver of the second car was taken by ambulance to Sligo University Hospital.
Their injuries are described s non life threatening.
The scene is currently preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and traffic diversions are in place on the R290 between Ballygawley and Ballintogher.
Cllr Walsh says there has been a sharp increase in the number of road fatalities in 2024.
He says the thoughts of the community are with the family of the deceased.
