Sligo and Leitrim projects to benefit from funding



A number of projects in Sligo and Leitrim will receive funding announced today by Minister Heather Humphreys.

 

The fund, under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, will see old and derelict buildings repurposed for community use.

 

In Manorhamilton, a former accountancy firm office will be used as a multi-purpose youth hub space.

 

Leitrim County Council will purchase a two-storey terraced house for use as a social and recreational youth centre in Kinlough.

 

While Sligo County Council will purchase the former Garda Station at Cliffoney for a local Men’s Shed Group facility.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM News at today’s meeting of Sligo County Council, Cllr Donal Gilroy welcomed the funding for the group.

 

The Fianna Fáil councillor also highlighted the importance of supporting Men’s and Women’s sheds around the country.

 

Local Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan, meanwhile has paid tribute to those involved and feels they will be of much benefit to the local area and community.
