Leitrim Councillor criticises practice of not issuing credit notes to low use electricity customers

A Sinn Fein Councillor has expressed concern that customers using low amounts of electricity are missing out on the Government credits which are being paid to help offset high electricity bills.

Councillor Padraig Fallon has raised the issue as energy companies continue to reduce prices in recent weeks.

The Sinn Fein Councillor says low usage customers are being penalised and he’s highlighted cases where elderly individuals in particular are using very little power.

The North Leitrim Councillor has called for the low usage criteria to be addressed, reviewed and removed, adding that punishing those who have low usage is wrong.
