Gardai in Ballyshannon begin clampdown on illegal parking

Gardai in Ballyshannon have begun a week long campaign to crack down on illegal parking.

Operation Enable began in the Ballyshannon District yesterday.

It’s a multi-agency initiative between An Garda Síochána, Donegal County Council, the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland and the Irish Wheelchair Association.

The objective is to target the unauthorised use of disabled parking bays and disabled parking permits within the Ballyshannon District.

An additional focus of the operation will be to target other forms of illegal parking within the Ballyshannon District such as parking on ‘dropped footpaths’ and any other type of parking that interferes with or restricts the free movement of people with disabilities/limited mobility.

The operation is in place until 8am on Monday April 8th.
