Counties Sligo and Donegal each recorded exponential increases in the number of home commencements issued in the first four months of this year.
From January to April, there were 530 received by the local authority in Donegal, up from a total of 90 during the same period in 2023.
260 were issued by Sligo County Council, up from 54 twelve months ago.
The number has fallen in Leitrim, however with 45 issued compared to 54 in 2023.
Over 30,138 housing commencement notices were received by authorities across the country from January to April.
That’s an increase of 204% on the same period last year according to the Department of Housing.
