150 people have died on trolleys in Sligo University Hospital in five years

150 people have died on trollies in Sligo University Hospital in the last five years.

It’s the third highest amount in the country over that time frame, after 195 at University Hospital Galway, and 239 in University Hospital Limerick.

The figures were presented by UHL chief executive, Collette Cowan at this month’s Regional Health Forum West, following the inquest into the death of 16-year old Aoife Johnston.

The inquest last month returned a verdict of ‘medical misadventure’.
