Coastal erosion report causes friction in Strandhill

Outgoing Fine Gael Cllr Sinead Maguire has been accused of going on a solo run with regards to views on coastal erosion at Strandhill.

Cllr Maguire aired a number of concerns relating to a recent report which made a number of recommendations in a bid to fight erosion including the use of rock armour.

Cllr Maguire who is also on the coastal erosion sub-group of the Strandhill community development association, feels that the report is limited and that other options have not yet been explored.

But Blaine Gaffney, member of the association says these are not the views of the group and claims that Cllr Maguire didn’t fully read the report, or understands it.
