Sligo-Leitrim beaten on penalties in Kennedy Cup

Sligo-Leitrim’s interest in this year’s boys U14 Kennedy Cup ended in cruel fashion on Wednesday afternoon when they were beaten on penalties by the Limerick Desmond Schoolboys League, in the quarter-finals of the Bowl competition.

The sides had finished level at the end of normal time – with the tie going straight to penalties.

Limerick won the shoot-out 4-3.

Sligo-Leitrim were unlucky to miss out on a place in the last eight of  the main cup competition after finishing runners-up in their group behind Dublin’s DDSL.

They drew 1-1 with their Dublin opponents on Tuesday evening, having earlier beaten Longford (4-0) and North Tipperary (1-0).

However, DDSL edged top spot in the group on goal difference.
