Man remains in hospital following Pearse Road accident



Pearse Road in Sligo Town remains closed this morning following a road traffic accident last night.

The incident occurred at around 8.10pm.

A single vehicle accident took place at the junction at Christie’s shop, and a large number of emergency services, including Gardaí, a number of ambulances and the fire brigade, were in attendance.

A man, who was the driver of the car, sustained injuries, and was taken to Sligo University Hospital for further treatment. He remains there this morning.

The section of Pearse Road where the incident occurred will be closed until further notice today.

Multiple diversions are in place in the area, and motorists are advised to anticipate delays, especially at peak time, and to plan alternative routes where possible.
