Homeless figures rise in Sligo; decrease in Donegal and Leitrim



160 people were registered as homeless in the North West for the month of May.

The figures for the region have decreased by 12 from the previous month.

Sligo saw the highest amount of homeless people across the region in May, with 90 people listed in the report. That was followed by 60 in Donegal, and 10 in Leitrim.

Overall, figures for the region have decreased, down from 69 in Donegal and 15 in Leitrim, but the number in Sligo has actually gone up by 2.

129 of the North West’s total were single adults, with 105 of the total male, and 55 female.

48 were between the ages of 18-24, 78 between 25-44, 59 between 45-64, and 5 that were 65+.

There were also 56 child dependents among them.

The North West figures for May account for 2% of the national total, which stands at 9,843, an increase of 40 from April.
