The news Sligo Rovers were hoping for was confirmed on Monday evening as goalkeeper Ed McGinty signed an extension to his loan deal which will keep him at the Showgrounds until the end of the season.
McGinty has been the team’s outstanding player so far in 2024.
His loan deal with parent club Oxford United expired at the end of June – but Rovers have managed to extend that arrangement with the English Championship side until the end of the domestic campaign.
McGinty joined Oxford from Rovers in 2022 – but returned to the Showgrounds on the loan move in search of regular first-team football.
He has kept eight clean sheets for Rovers in the league so far this season.
McGinty spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Dónal Ryan after signing his loan extension deal.
