Expansion of free contraception scheme welcomed locally

A scheme offering women free contraception has been expanded.

Since its launch in 2022, the programme has offered free contraception to women, girls and people who identify as transgender or non-binary.

Initially open to those aged 17 to 25, the scheme’s age limit was increased earlier this year to those aged 31.

From today, it is also open to women aged 32 to 35.

Local Independent Councillor Marie Casserly believes the move is a step in the right direction.
