The Deposit Return Scheme is said to be picking up in Sligo.
In the ALDI store in Sligo alone, more 237,000 items have been returned to date.
In June, shoppers returned 92,000 items.
This equates to a total of more than €40,000 in vouchers being issued in ALDI’s Sligo store since the scheme began.
ALDI’s Sligo store is just below the national average across all of ALDI’s 161 stores in Ireland, which have handled an average of 264,000 items each since the launch of the scheme, worth almost €45,000 in returned deposits.
