All-Stars strengthen squad ahead of Superleague season

EJ Sligo All-Stars have made a significant signing ahead of the new basketball season, signing former Ireland captain John Carroll.

Carroll is a highly rated power forward who spent five years at Hartford University in the United States playing for college’s basketball team the Hartford Hanks.

The Dublin native subsequently played for clubs in Czech Republic and Spain and most recently played for Albacete Basket, who play in the second tier of Spanish basketball.

29 years old, Carroll suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury in June 2022, ruling him out for an extended period of time.

The All-Stars will look to improve on last season’s disappointment where they were defeated 104 to 84 against University of Galway Maree in their play-off quarter-final.
