Sligo cruise to historic All-Ireland minor title

Sligo minor gaelic footballers are the new ZucCar All-Ireland LGFA minor ‘B’ football champions for 2024 following Saturday’s emphatic 1-13 to 0-7 win over Tyrone at Brewster Park in Enniskillen.

It’s the county’s first ever All-Ireland LGFA minor title.

Listen back to Ocean FM Sport’s commentary of the game here, as described by Ray Lannon and Nikki Brennan.

12 months on from narrowly losing two All-Ireland deciders at under-16 and minor level, the Sligo girls made no mistake this time around with a commanding display of football.

They led 0-7 to 0-1 at half-time and despite a second-half revival from Tyrone, the girls in black were able to retain control of the match with Rachel McGoldrick’s goal in the closing quarter putting the result beyond all doubt.

McGoldrick was sin-binned a short while later following a strong challenge on Tyrone’s Sorcha Gormley – but Sligo closed out the game in style to record a memorable nine-point victory.
