Former Sligo Rovers striker Aidan Keena is back in the League of Ireland – after signing for St Patrick’s Athletic until the end of the season.
Keena. was Sligo Rovers leading goalscorer in 2022 before leaving to join English League One side Cheltenham Town.
The Mullingar native scored 18 goals in 32 games with Rovers that season and 21 in all competitions.
That form saw him finish as the 2022 Premier Division top scorer and earned him a place in the PFAI Premier Division Team of the Year.
Keena moves to Inchicore following the departure of Ruairi Keating from Pat’s to Cork City on Sunday.
This will be Keena’s second stint at the Dublin club.
The 25-year-old returns seven years after joining SPL side Hearts from St Patrick’s Athletic back in 2017.
Subject to international clearance, Keena’s first game for Pat’s could be against his former club – Sligo Rovers – when John Russell’s travel to Richmond Park on Sunday evening (6pm).
