Donegal’s Eamonn Kelly in Rally Finland contention

Donegal’s Eamonn Kelly is second overall in the junior World Rally Championship section of Rally Finland, going into going into day 2.

The Frosses driver, driving a Ford Fiesta 3, narrowly missed out on an opening stage win by 0.6 seconds on Thursday evening.

The rally is regarded as one of the quickest on  the FIA Junior WRC calendar – and is one of the Kelly’s preferred events.

12 months ago, he and co-driver Conor Mohan finished 24th overall and 14th in their Junior WRC category.

Competing in the rally last year was Kelly’s prize for winning the 2022 Motorsport UK Junior British Rally Championship.

Day 2 (Friday) of the 2024 edition of the rally has nine stages.

The event continues until Sunday.
