The wider north Sligo area has descended into unspeakable sadness following the death of a man in a road-traffic collision.
That’s according to local Fianna Fáil Councillor Dónal Gilroy who has been speaking after the man in his twenties died after the van, he was driving collided with a lorry at Urlar.
The collision happened at around 6am.
The driver of the lorry has been taken to Sligo University Hospital for assessment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Local traffic diversions are in place, the coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place.
Councillor Gilroy has also been praising the swift response of the emergency services but says the tragedy has shocked the entire community.
