Leitrim has the highest vacancy rate in Ireland, according to a new report.
The data compiled by Geo Directory has also found that Sligo and Leitrim have some of the weakest construction activity nationwide.
A total of 150 new residential address points were recorded in Leitrim in the twelve months to June 2024 according to the latest GeoDirectory Residential Buildings Report released today.
The report found that a further 118 residential buildings were under construction across the county in June.
In Sligo, there were 252 new residential address points recorded over the same period with a further 190 under construction.
However, construction activity was deemed the weakest in counties of Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim and Longford.
In Leitrim, the residential vacancy rate was 12%. The national vacancy rate remained at a record low of 3.9%.
The highest residential vacancy rates generally continue to be found along the North and Midwest coast.
Leitrim, at 12% was the county with the highest vacancy rate, along with Donegal at 9.2% and Sligo at 8.2%.
Leitrim also accounted for 3.4% of a national total of residential buildings classified as derelict in June 2024.
