St Molaise Gaels claimed the Sligo Furey’s Coaches Division 1 league title on Sunday wiith a comprehensive 2-10 to 0-9 win over Tourlestrane in Bunninadden.
Goals from Oisín Gilmartin and Cathal Herron, coupled with an imerious display by team captain Alan McLoughlin propelled the north Sligo club to a deserved seven-point win.
It’s Molaise’s first Division 1 title since 2011.
Sunday’s game was effectively a championship dress rehearsal as the two sides will meet again in the group stage of the Homeland senior football championship in a few weeks time.
