Concerns raised locally over adequate paramedic equipment

Concerns have been raised locally that ambulances in the north west won’t be fitted with the adequate equipment required.

A number of the cardiac devices have been removed from services in south Leinster following an error message on a piece of a lifesaving equipment during a call out.

Paramedics have since been given instructions on how to deal with potential faults, however, the procedure can take up to 5 minutes to complete.

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Pádraig Fallon says time and speed are critical factors in what is already a distressing situation.
